Applicators for forage
For better preservation and feed quality
Effective and safe preservation begins with precise acid dosing. Serigstad’s applicators is designed for full control over the amount of acid used, regardless of the type of machinery or method of operation.
Adding acid for ensiling forage is critically important—even under good and normal conditions. The correct amount is essential. Too little yields very little effect and is often completely wasted.
What are applicators - and why do they matter?
Applicators are used to add preservatives – usually formic acid or acid mixtures – during harvesting or baling of grass. The goal is to quickly lower the pH to prevent heating, reduce dry matter losses, and preserve the nutritional content of the forage.
Without proper preservation, the risk of mold, yeast, and undesirable fermentation increases – leading to poorer taste and reduced feed intake.
Good acid equipment contributes to better storage stability and more consistent feed quality – giving you more value from each round bale.
Serigstad’s Solution: Reliable, Easy, and Accurate Dosing
Our acid equipment is developed with a strong focus on operational reliability and ease of use:
✅ Easy adaptation to existing machinery and feeding equipment
✅ Durable components built for demanding environments and a long service life
✅ Complete control via a clear control panel
✅ Automatic or manual dosage control
The system is compatible with various acid types and can be used with round balers, pick-up wagons, and is naturally integrated into Serigstad’s new Phoenix Multicutter.
Benefits of proper acid dosing include:
- Reduced feed loss and improved cost-efficiency
- Extended storage life for round bales and silage
- Better palatability and higher feed intake
- Safer storage—even in warm and humid conditions
- Less plastic needed due to lower dry matter loss
Digital Flowmaster
Digital Flowmaster gives you control of the ensiling when using the GP or the MP series. Different program modes and the use of micro switches makes adding ensiling highly automated.
